Acceptable Use

The goal of the Canadian Army social media spaces is to share the latest information on Canadian Army programs, services and activities with soldiers, military families, veterans and the public.

We welcome your comments and expect conversations will be respectful and relevant to the mandate of our social media spaces. The following types of comments may be removed at the Canadian Army’s discretion:

  • Comments advocating illegal acts (including copyright violations) or containing links to anything illegal
  • Comments that violate CF/DND regulations or Operation Security (OPSEC) requirements
  • Libellous or potentially libellous statements
  • Derogatory comments based on race, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, ethnicity, citizenship, employment or health status
  • Comments that are not respectful of other participants and their views
  • Comments containing personally identifiable information about you or any other person
  • Comments containing gratuitous or excessive profanity
  • Material or links to material which could be considered obscene, pornographic, vulgar or offensive
  • Comments that promote or advocate commercial or political interests (including links to other Web sites)
  • Comments in languages other than English or French
  • Irrelevant or off-topic comments
  • Requests for donations to organizations not under the umbrella of the yellow ribbon campaign*

All posted comments are in the public domain and may be used by the service provider as stated in their Terms. The Canadian Army does not control the use of your information by the service provider or others.

A few other important notes:

You participate at your own risk, taking personal responsibility for your comments, your username and any information provided. To protect your own privacy and the privacy of others, we recommend that you do not include personal information such as a phone number, email address, contact information, home town, etc., in your comment.

Additionally, users are reminded that their participation in Canadian Army social media spaces is subject to the service provider’s terms which you are encouraged to read.

The views expressed in comments reflect those of the author and do not necessarily represent the views of the Government of Canada.

Responses will generally be reviewed and posted during regular business hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time), Monday through Friday.
