Right now we’re just hosting a bit of a community relations event for the City of Yellowknife. It’s just part of connecting with Canadians. They’ve witnessed us moving around their communities for the last month so it’s about time they get some face to face interaction with the soldiers and see the equipment we work with. Today we got elements from the battle group with a LAV III. We also have some supporters, some of the supporting arms such as the military police, Fd Amb, We have the Signals Squadron setting up some of their tactical satellite system, and we do have an element of the Reserves that is in Yellowknife - the Yellowknife Company of the Loyal Edmonton Regiment with a display of what they got.
Cpl Jeremy Roberts
We’re relying on Sunday afternoon to be a day when people come out, just be walking there dogs and enjoying the outdoors. It’s a bit cold today, but we’re still hoping to see them out. And as they come we’ll show them a set-up of an arctic tent that we have set up over here. And one of our military vehicles, the BV-206 just to give them a taste of the winter side of things that we do, especially here with our unit.
Capt Cole Petersen
We have the Para Company of 3 PPCLI. We’ll be doing a parachute insertion, so that should garnish some interest. We’re anticipating locals coming out on their lake to enjoy the sites.

It’s just wonderful. Essentially the Army has been in and around Yellowknife for the past month doing their exercises and finally they have a day to come into town and we get to see the equipment, and vehicles and the people behind all these exercises and it’s just great you see all the kids out around here really getting a feel getting to know what the military is like in a personal way and you got even adults acting like big kids climbing all over the vehicles so it’s wonderful.
