Employment Opportunities

There are employment opportunities in the Army for Reservists. Opportunities include casual work around the home armoury, non-operational duty for months or even years at a time, or the ultimate job—deployment on an operation.

There are three classes of Reserve employment:

Class A - includes training or employment for a half-day, full-day, weekend or as many as 12 consecutive days.

Class B - includes training or employment for more than 12 consecutive days.

Class C - is for operational deployments.

Each class is governed by a series of regulations. Details can be found on the Chief Military Personnel’s Web site.

Finding Work

If you are looking for class A work, check with your armoury and others in the local area.

If you wish to volunteer for an operation, class C, talk to your chain-of-command.

Looking for class B work

Here is a list of Web sites to get you started in your search for class B work. Note that some jobs in the Navy and Air Force are open to all Reservists with the right skills.
